Major Pharma Saves Over $12M with Online Clinical Meetings

    The MedConferenceLive services and platform package has been designed to provide a cost effective alternative for our client’s sales, marketing, clinical, and education managers to communicate with their customers.

    The MedConferenceLive service was implemented with our client in October 2006 to provide them with a best-in-class global service for online meetings and training events attended by their customers and partners. The client’s R&D has been the largest customer, and to date the service has supported over 200 online meetings attended by over 7,000 site personnel. In addition to the Live online meeting attendance, over 2,000 site personnel have accessed the meeting archive hosted on their internal LMS platform.

    MedConference is the single point of contact for the client’s study managers, providing the following services: Event Management Tool (EMT), Project Management/Best Practices, Registration/Enrollment, Facilitation, Help Desk, Reporting, Archive Production and Quality Control. MedConferenceLive projects are easily initiated using the EMT developed exclusively for our client. The EMT is located on the client’s intranet and allows the user to analyze options and budget estimates before submitting a project request. “The information on the intranet contains valuable information, including best practice recommendations, and the Event Management Tool is an extremely efficient means of initiating online meeting requests,” states the Global External Learning Director of IT.

    To date, the single largest individual user of the service has been the client’s study team, and the cost savings have been dramatic. The average cost at the online meetings has been $135 per attendee compared to up to $2,000 per attendee at traditional venue-based meetings. The team has held 18 online events for a variety of initiatives including: CRA Training, Investigator Meetings, PI Training and Study Coordinator Meetings. The team has experienced a remarkable 96% attendance rate; 846 site personnel attending the online meetings out of a total of 885 invited.

    Over the past 24 months, the client R&D online meetings in total have saved over $12,500,000 when compared to the cost of traditional face-to-face meetings, not including the considerable time savings for both our client and investigator site personnel.
